It's here where the basalt wonders begin: your first glimpse of the rather stunning change to a distinctive and consistantly spectacular shoreline of primarily rocky monsters and shapes. The rocky ledges that typify Yachats begins here, at the southern end of town. At the end of a tiny, hard-to-spot road, the sandy stretches give way to this gateway to the basalt. It is a calming beach of unusual serenity and strange beauty.
