SeaPort Airlines has launched air service from Newport
and Astoria. It all starts this weekend with flights from Portland.
SeaPort Airlines launched commercial air service to Seattle
in June 2008 and has since added a route to Pendleton, Ore. With SeaPort,
customers can arrive 15 minutes before their flight, avoid the hassles
of TSA and enjoy on-site parking. The communities of Newport and Astoria
have not had scheduled air service in over a decade.
The first flight to Astoria departs from PDX at 9:35 a.m.,
arrives in Astoria at 10 a.m. A later flight runs from Astoria down to
Newport, and all planes are back in PDX by 3 p.m.
Astoria: Terminal Building at the Astoria Regional Airport,
off Hwy 101 in Warrenton.
Newport: City of Newport Municipal Airport, 135 SE 84th
Street, South Beach, Ore.

Look for a marine swap meet in Astoria on May 16. |
There’s a big ol’ swap meet for water sports
and fishing enthusiasts coming to Astoria in May.
May 16 brings the Boater’s Swap Meet to town, where
you can sell marine gear you no longer need, or buy fishing and boating
gear at an outstanding price.
Promoters call it a “bargain hunter’s dream.”
It’s a bit like a flea market at sea.
It's free to attend for buyers and sellers. Space to hawk
your wares is free as well.
Sellers are responsible for their own sales. Please bring
your own tables. Please clean up your area after the meet.
Boater’s Swap Meet happens 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the
Port of Astoria, 95 Hamburg Ave. Astoria, Oregon. (503) 325-4341
A1 Beach Rentals in Lincoln City has a spectacular
new home that just opened up for the hard-to-book spring break season.
It’s a four-bedroom beauty called the Jetty House that’s across
the street from the beach with a low beach access. Most homes are sealed
up for this sought-after time of beachy frivolity. It’s also a four-block
walk to the casino, and a steal at $175 a night. There is a virtual tour
on the website with a live booking calendar. www.a1beachrentals.com.
