Weekend Heat Wave Drives Oregon Residents to Coast

(Oregon Coast) – Temperatures had been predicted to be around 100 degrees over this weekend, although that's been slightly amended. But 100-degree temps are still around the corner for the early part of the week, and the weekend is likely to be in the upper 90's. The result is a rush of folks to the coastline, where it may actually hit around 80, although it will be measurably cooler than the inland part of the state.

The vast majority of lodgings along the coast are reporting no openings, and in fact they’ve been booked for a while, especially since it’s become predicted Sunday will reach 100. But there’s still a few left so you can get away from the heat in Portland, Salem, Eugene, Bend or wherever.

Many of these are reporting nothing on Saturday, but plenty have openings on Friday and Sunday. It’s best to call ahead of time to make sure.
