(Waldport, Oregon) – What is likely the largest blues music festival on the Oregon coast returns to Waldport – but a bit later this year.
The Beach, Bike & Blues Festival, traditionally held the first Saturday of May, is shifting to a new date in hopes of better weather. The popular event will now take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
Organizers made the decision following three years of the festival where over 5,000 attendees braved challenging weather. The change aims to offer a more enjoyable experience with warmer temperatures for festival-goers. Despite last year's difficult weather conditions, the festival saw more than 1,200 visitors from 27 states and three countries.
Returning sponsors, food vendors, and volunteers are encouraged to reach out to participate again in this year's event.
"We will continue to stage Beach, Bike & Blues Festival at the Alsea Bay Bridge Visitor Center & Museum and its adjoining parking areas," said Chamber Executive Director Tom Fullmer.
The event often coincided with the Annual Oregon Coast Gravel Epic, involving more than 800 bike racers and their friends. That will have to change this time around.
As always, the backdrop is the sweeping shores of the Alsea Bay.
In addition, discussions are ongoing with Waldport's Green Bike Co-Op, a non-profit organization dedicated to repairing and selling bikes and providing bikes to children during the holidays. A proposed kid's bike rodeo and safety course in the Bisnett Insurance parking lot is one of the exciting ideas on the table. The festival is also seeking input and support from bike communities throughout Lincoln County.
Organized by the Waldport Chamber of Commerce, the festival is dog-friendly, ADA accessible, and free to attend.
The festival's inception can be traced back to community feedback in 2021, calling for a spring event to celebrate the town. According to Fullmer, the first festival was held a year later.
"At the end of the Festival in 2022, we discovered we had a winner with more than 700 people attending, 30 volunteers, 18 sponsors, and vendors, and a terrific lineup of music," Fullmer said. "In 2023, expectations were exceeded when we welcomed more than 1,900 attendees and expanded our exposure to statewide media and outreach."
