(Newport, Oregon) – A central Oregon coast tradition returns – one that goes back almost 20 years.
Get ready for the sixteenth annual Be Jeweled pre-loved jewelry sale, happening Saturday, May 10, from 10 AM to 4 PM at Central Coast Assembly Church, located at 236 NE 6th St., Newport.
This cherished annual event raises funds for Food Share of Lincoln County, an organization committed to fighting hunger by providing food access through local pantries, meal sites, backpack programs, senior outreach initiatives, and youth programs.
Shoppers will have the opportunity to browse more than 2,000 donated pieces of jewelry, ranging from vintage pins, earrings, and pendants to elegant sterling silver necklaces and bangles. Thanks to the generosity of donors, treasures include pearls, jade, and fine jewelry crafted in silver and gold. Handmade artisan creations - earrings and necklaces specially made for the event - add unique touches. For craft enthusiasts, there’s even a dedicated table filled with components for custom jewelry-making.
From past Be Jeweled events
Doors are open at 10 AM, and shoppers can explore Be Jeweled finds until 1 PM.
Nancy Mitchell, Executive Director of Food Share of Lincoln County, highlights the uniqueness of the central Oregon coast event.
"There’s no other event like this on the coast,” Mitchell said. “It’s a fantastic way to support Food Share by donating your pre-loved jewelry and shopping for new treasures. We briefly close from 1 to 2 PM to give our hardworking team of 50 volunteers a break, then reopen with excitement for our half-price sale from 2 to 4 PM. We see dedicated shoppers who return year after year, as well as newcomers experiencing the magic for the first time. It’s a fun and meaningful way to give back to the community."
Beyond Be Jeweled, year-round jewelry sales at Rustic Ridge Antique Mall, Nostalgia Estate Sales Antique Mall, Oceanic Arts, and the Food Share of Lincoln County eBay store help generate over $30,000 annually, funding essential food distribution programs.
Mitchell emphasizes the growing need.
"We’ve seen about a 19% increase in families relying on food programs in Lincoln County over the past year or two,” Mitchell said. “With recent USDA budget cuts, we’ll have less food and even more people to serve. The gap is wide, and support is critical. Coming to Be Jeweled is a special way to help - it’s a little bit of light in tough times."
