(Bandon, Oregon) – Just what every parent wants for their spring break: a beach hazards statement and plenty of rain. However, inland Oregon is going to get quite the dose of spring with many places reaching close to and over 70 degrees. (Above: Bandon, courtesy Manuela Durson - Manuela Durson Fine Arts)
Along the Oregon coast, it's spring break business as usual: rain. Add to that, on the south coast (and to some degree up north) there is an increased chance of sneaker waves, with the National Weather Service (NWS) issuing a beach hazards statement for the areas of Reedsport down to Brookings, including Port Orford, Coos Bay and Bandon.
That section of coast is not as heavy with spring breakers as the northern half, but the NWS is saying that now through Tuesday morning conditions have come together to create a moderate risk of sneaker waves. Farther up, the NWS office out of Portland has sent out a message on its social media about sneaker waves, but no official beach hazards statement as on the south coast. Still, their message is that sneaker waves are a possibility on north coast beaches from today through Thursday.
“The risk will be highest on west facing beaches, especially early Tuesday morning,” the NWS in Medford said regarding the south coast.

While the northern half won't be quite as tumultuous the caution is for a longer period, including areas like Lincoln City, Pacific City, Seaside and Cannon Beach.

However, the south coast is more likely to see temps above 70 at some point whereas the north coast won't.
Yet for those sticking around inland areas like Salem, Portland, Eugene, Kelso, Washington, or Silverton, Tuesday has a very good chance of getting up to 70 degrees or higher. The NWS said it's likely going to be record-breaking, with about 99% or greater chance many of those spots will see the mid 70s.
Temps will be even more dramatic around the Cascades and near Medford and Roseburg, which are expected to hit 80.

“A brief warming trend is in store early this week across NW Oregon & SW Washington,” the NWS said. “Temperatures quickly warm to the upper 60s to 70s inland Monday - Wednesday, with the peak on Tuesday. Daily temperature records could fall on Tuesday with temperatures peaking in the max 70s.”
Right after that, more active weather returns to all areas after Wednesday.
