(Wilsonville, Oregon) - The first big frost of the year for the Oregon Coast Range and valley towns from Portland down through Eugene are under a frost advisory Tuesday night, in effect from midnight into 8 a.m. Temps are expected to plunge down to 35 degrees in many areas, with some reaching 32 in the overnight hours. The next day or so will also bring your last chance to photograph Comet A3 as it fades from view.
The National Weather Service (NWS) put out the frost advisory for the entire northwest section of Oregon, including the Coast Range, Vancouver, Wash., the Cascades and down through areas like Silverton, Marys Peak, Salem, Molalla, Grand Ronde, Mapleton, Alma, Woodland, Kelso and Cottage Grove – among others.
“Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation,” the NWS said “Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered. Take steps now to protect tender outdoor plants from the cold. Consider temporarily moving outdoor potted plants indoors if they are sensitive to cold temperatures.”

The NWS suggested covering plants with something lightweight, like a cotton fabric, which should help them retain heat.
Coastal towns like Seaside, Florence or Lincoln City are not expected to get that low, hitting only as low as the 40s.
If you're still hoping to capture a shot of Comet C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS (Comet A3), tonight at dusk and tomorrow (Wednesday) at dusk will be it. It appears just after dusk less than a quarter of the way up the sky – still quite low. Look to the west and just slightly south of due west.

Clouds may or may not part for you, depending on where you are. There are definitely clouds in the forecast for tonight and tomorrow, but they won't cover the entire sky.
For beachgoers this week, seas are expected to climb into the teens later in the week, maybe as high as 16 feet. This could provide a decent show of storm-like waves in areas like Yachats or especially Shore Acres near Coos Bay.
Seas drop in height during the weekend, the NWS said. MORE WEATHER STORIES BELOW
