Guided Hikes and Canoe Adventures on N. Oregon Coast

(Seaside, Oregon) - Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District is offering a series of outdoor adventures coming up this summer, including the Guided Canoe Adventures along the Necanicum River and near the ocean. Other guided hikes take you around various stunning locations around the north Oregon coast. (Above: near Manzanita).

The first Guided Canoe Adventure happens on June 27. You meet in the lobby at the Sunset Pool in Seaside at 1140 Broadway. It goes from noon to 3 pm and takes you out on the river. Don't forget to bring some sunscreen, water bottle and a camera.

These also happen on July 11 and 25, and August 8 and 22. All are noon to 3 pm.

If seeing Seaside by foot is more your thing, the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District will also be offering three hiking adventures this summer.

The first is Angora Peak Hike near Arch Cape on June 21. It'sa moderate seven-mile hike with great views. Explore the talked about Hermit Hut at the top of the hike. On this trek don't be surprised if you run into deer, elk, or other wildlife along the way. Bring water, a snack, and binoculars and a walking stick if needed. Transportation will be provided. Meet in the lobby of Sunset Pool at 9:45am. Cost is $25 and $20 for residents

August 9 is the Saddle Mountain Hike in the Oregon Coast Range. This is a real gem of a hike. Although this hike is a little over six miles and difficult the trail is very well maintained and the views get better and better as you climb to the top. From the Summit you will get a 360-degree view ranging from the Pacific Ocean, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens, Mt Hood, and Mt Jefferson.
