Four Interesting Oregon Coast Properties Listed
for Sale
|
Flashback in Seaside |
(Oregon Coast) – For those looking for a brand new
home in the Newport area, or a business and living opportunity in north
coast towns like Cannon Beach or Seaside, the sun may have just come out
on your coastal dream. There is some prime real estate available in some
interesting places.
Two
new homes have just become listed in the Newport area, a dockside business
space with a condo above have hit the market in that town, an enormous
castle-like structure that is used for a B&B near Cannon Beach is
for sale, and a hopping malt shop business in Seaside is for sale as well.
All offer some very unique opportunities and living spaces on the laidback
and pristine Oregon coast.
If your dream is to own and run your own quaint business
on Oregon’s coast, the energetic town of Seaside has quite the tourism
proposition for you. Flashback Malt Shoppe sells nostalgia in the form
of a very authentic-feeling retro ice cream shop, as well as licensed
collectibles from bygone eras of the 50’s, 30’s or even the
20’s. Now, Flashback itself is for sale, as owners Gary and Marjorie
Diebolt are asking $180,000 for this little slice of yesterday.

It's a place so cool Elvis even came back from the dead to hang
out |
It’s a long-established business with a solid reputation
and a hopping storefront right on Broadway, the main drag of most tourism
activity in Seaside.
DIVE
INTO LUXURY, HISTORY AT THE TIDES
THE
TIDES BY THE SEA, Seaside. For over 80 years a favorite of Seaside
visitors. 51 oceanfront condos, individually owned and decorated.
Suites for couples, small apartments with fireplaces and kitchenettes,
one or two bed family units with fireplaces, kitchens and dining
rooms. Oceanview cottages sleep anywhere from two to eight, w/ two
bedrooms, some with lofts, fireplaces and kitchens. Heated outdoor
pool, enormous grounds w/ picnic tables - all at quiet southern
end of Seaside. 2316 Beach Drive. 800-548-2846. www.thetidesbythesea.com. |
The time-trippin’, vintage décor is accentuated
by teal vinyl seating in the six booths. The 60’s era counter seats
another eight, with a real vintage soda fountain from the 60’s pouring
out the good, sweet stuff a faithful stable of kids and adults have sucked
down here for years. Malt mixers by Hamilton are the real thing, made
in the 40’s and refurbished. The malt dispenser hails from the 20’s.
It’s a business born of love, inspired by the Diebolt’s
early days hanging out in soda fountains back in the 50’s. This
sense of joy and fun shows, too. It’s here where you can also pick
up loads of nostalgic goodies like Betty Boop, Disney, Marilyn, Lucy and
Elvis. There are signs like “Route 66” along with other cultural
icons as well.

Arch Cape House: own your own castle on the coast |
In tiny Arch Cape, just south of Cannon Beach, your home
can literally be your castle. Arch Cape House, currently owned by Barbara
Dau, is a working bed and breakfast with an unusual architecture: it’s
built to look like a castle. There’s a kind of alpine lodge vibe
about it as well, giving it an intriguing European flair on different
levels, in the midst of the rustic and dramatic Oregon coast. Dau is selling
it as a B&B, or it could be a massive company retreat house, a shared
vacation home or a grand permanent residence.
Tradewinds
Motel,
Rockaway Beach. All rooms are immaculate and have TV’s, VCR’s
and in-room phones with data ports. Oceanfronts all have a queen
bed, a double hide-a-bed, kitchen, cozy firelog fireplace and a
private deck. Both types sleep up to four people. Others are appointed
for a two-person romantic getaway, yet still perfect for those on
a budget. Elaborate oceanfront Jacuzzi suite has two bedrooms, kitchen,
double hide-a-bed, fireplace and private deck, sleeping as many
as six. For family reunions or large gatherings such as weddings,
some rooms can connect to create two-room and three-room suites.
Some rooms are pet friendly.523 N. Pacific St., Rockaway Beach.
(503) 355-2112 - 1-800-824-0938. www.tradewinds-motel.com |
This
beautiful and dynamic structure is going for $1.95 million, (Dau is presently
selling it herself). It comes with nine bedrooms, nine and a half bathrooms,
a sauna, an ocean view from the upper floor, and a stunning atmosphere
you have to experience to believe. A large deck stretches across the front
of the building – perfect for catching the last rays of those perfectly
lazy coastal days.
There are 10,000 sq. feet on 1.5 acres, all across the
street from the pristine beaches of Arch Cape, one of the coast’s
loveliest hidden beaches. It’s about four miles south of Cannon
Beach and its numerous wonderful eateries and amenities, and about five
miles north of sleepy, charming Manzanita. Surrounding it is a myriad
of thick forests – and of course, those addicting beaches. View
the building as a bed and breakfast at www.archcapehouse.com.

Interior of one of the two homes, just waiting for further instructions
on finishing from the buyer |
In the exceptionally cozy and charming neighborhood of
Nye Beach, in the bustling town of Newport, developer Ian Clayman and
his family are offering up two more brand new homes, a short walk from
the beaches. They’ve recently built and sold a couple, and some
more are planned down the line.
Arch
Cape Property Services.
Dozens of homes in that dreamy,
rugged stretch between Cannon Beach and Manzanita known as Arch
Cape. Oceanfront and ocean view , or just a short walk from the
sea.
All homes are immaculate and smoke free; some pet friendly (with
a fee). Some with broadband, indoor or outdoor hot tubs, fireplaces,
decks, and fire pits or barbecues. Call about tempting winter specials
that go until March (not valid holidays, however). www.archcaperentals.com
866-436-1607. |
For now, these two are available – and with an extra
pleasurable twist. The interiors are left largely unfinished, allowing
the buyers to decide on how they want to decorate and accessorize the
home. The developers will finish per their instructions. Both are around
1700 square feet or more, with ocean views, and only a half a block to
the strand.
Both
come with three bedrooms and two full bathrooms, which feature double
“Jack & Jill” sinks. There is what is called reverse living
space here: meaning the living rooms, dining rooms and kitchens are upstairs,
maximizing the views. The upstairs is entirely vaulted with skylights.
One is going for $347,000; the other for $395,000.
Each has a gas fireplace and ocean view deck, with garages
accessible from a common driveway. Vinyl garage doors are installed, and
there are five cable jacks and five phone jacks. Rods and shelves will
be installed in all bed and vanity closets.
Appliances include refrigerator, stove, dishwasher and
microwave/range hood combo. Both the range and dryer area are fitted for
both gas and electric.
You’ll find the homes at 995 NW Spring St. and 996
NW Spring in Newport, approximately three blocks north of the Turnaround
in Nye Beach.

The dock and pier at 875 SW Bay Blvd. |
Along Newport’s bayfront – also a bustling,
atmospheric spot that’s hard to resist - an intriguing set of business
spots are now open for lease. They are part of 875 SW Bay Blvd., which
is a group of retail spaces, along with a condo above, that have their
own dock and pier. Approximately 8,000 sq. feet comprise this area altogether,
with two of three spots still available. This free-standing building has
its own private parking along with the pier, and is positioned at the
west end of Newport's Historic Bay Front next to the publicly accessed
Bay Street Pier and the U.S. Coast Guard Station.
Space
number one is already leased. Space number two has frontage to the street
and the pier, clocking in at approximately 800 sq. feet. There’s
a USDA/FDA-approved polyester Monterey Beach sand floor and insulated
FRP wall panels.
Space three is on the waterfront with amazing, unobstructed
views of Yaquina Bay. There’s approximately 3000 sq. feet here,
including the dock, as well as a USDA/FDA-approved polyester Monterey
Beach sand floor and insulated FRP wall panels, along with dock and water
access.
|
One of the leasable spaces at Bay Blvd., with one heck of a view |
Marketer Casey Miller said one of these places would make
a great tasting room. There’s a lot going on in this area as well,
he said, with a rapidly growing, upscale population and other changes.
“Newport
has steadily grown into a thriving fishing harbor, commercial center and
tourist destination,” Miller said. “With turn-of-the-century
storefronts and the scent of cooking crab and artwork, the Bayfront offers
a fascinating walking tour. The city has turned this one-mile strip into
a gigantic canvas for artists. This seaboard district offers art galleries,
gift shops, fresh seafood markets, chowder houses, restaurants, marine
tours, whale watching and one really large sport fishing fleet.”
