Sunny Skies, Nearly 70 on Oregon Coast Later This Week Published 04/28/2013 (Oregon Coast) – Look for greatly improving skies and conditions this week on the Oregon coast, while it looks likely you'll encounter some of those prime photo opps for dramatic clouds as well. (Above: Hug Point, near Cannon Beach) The National Weather Service (NWS) in Portland is forecasting a somewhat cloudy beginning to the week, moving to bright and sunny states by the weekend. The latter weekdays will be good ones to play hooky from work or school with highs near 70. On the north Oregon coast – including Astoria, Seaside, Cannon Beach, Manzanita, Nehalem, Rockaway Beach, Tillamook, Oceanside and Pacific City – Monday starts off mostly cloudy. But not entirely. Monday's forecast is for a 40 percent chance of showers before 11 a.m. and a high of only about 50 degrees. Tuesday wanders into partly sunny territory with a high around 54. Winds will be light, not much more than 11 mph. Wednesday, the NWS is predicting a lot of sun and a high close to 70. Thursday will be the same. For the central Oregon coast and towns like Yachats, Waldport, Newport, Depoe Bay and Lincoln City, the forecast is largely the same. Monday will be sunnier than up north, however. Tuesday should feature a bit of fog in the mornings but otherwise mostly sunny from then on. Wednesday and Thursday will be sunny and close to 70 degrees, like the north coast.
