Rescue crews pulled the four passengers and one crewmember out quickly.
According to North Bend Fire Department (NBFD), an automated iPhone alert indicated the crash happened at 6:06 a.m., and it was reported to 911 a few minutes later. The plane was a 2019 HondaJet HA-420, skidding off Runway 5/23 and straight into the waters of the south Oregon coast town about 100 feet offshore.
“The pilot and four passengers have been recovered from the water and are receiving treatment for minor to severe injuries at Bay Area Hospital,” the NBFD said.
There are unconfirmed reports the pilot had issues with the brakes of the aircraft.
SORA said all were in good condition with two already discharged, although one patient had slightly more serious injuries and was transferred to another facility for care not offered in this area.

“Public safety crews from multiple agencies are currently working to secure the plane, contain any hazardous material leakage, and remove the aircraft from the water onto a barge via crane,” said NBFD.
A crane has already lifted the aircraft out of the water, and investigators are still on scene.
“SkyWest which operates the commercial flight for United Express says the flight from San Francisco that was scheduled to arrive at 1:15 pm today has been delayed until 2:14 pm,” SORA said. “But, commercial air service has resumed after a short closure following the incident.”

Officials said you can see the aircraft moving on Runway 5/23 and then “plummeting into Coos Bay.”
Multiple agencies responded to the scene, including emergency responders from the airport, local police, North Bend and Coos Bay Fire Departments, Coos Bay Hazardous Materials Response Team, US Coast Guard, and the Coos County Sheriff's Office. MORE PHOTOS BELOW
