(Bandon, Oregon) - Registration is now open for the annual SOLVE Oregon Spring Cleanup happening all over the state, running from April 12 to 22, 2025. There are more than 100 events are already scheduled: SOLVE is asking for volunteers. Go to the SOLVE website and get involved. Cleanup and restoration projects are happening across Portland, Southwest Washington, the entire Oregon coast - from Astoria to Brookings - the Willamette National Forest, Southern Oregon (including Medford), and all the way to Baker City in Eastern Oregon.
The Oregon Spring Cleanup takes place during Earth Month, with the main event on Saturday, April 19. This initiative welcomes individuals, families, and groups from communities and workplaces to join in preserving the beauty of the region. Volunteers can register for existing projects or organize their own events, with SOLVE providing full support.
Portland General Electric, a longtime partner, is a major supporter in this tradition in Oregon and environmental action.
"Earth Month is a powerful reminder for us all to take action and improve our communities,” said Kristen Sheeran, vice president of policy and resource planning at PGE. "This year, we’re excited to collaborate with SOLVE and countless dedicated volunteers to make a lasting positive impact on Oregon’s natural landscapes."
To get involved, sign up for a local volunteer event and register yourself or your group at volunteer.solveoregon.org. If you'd rather host an event, SOLVE provides all the necessary resources such as supplies and disposal funding to make organizing a cleanup project simple and effective. You can also take part in the Trash Bag Challenge, which encourages schools, workplaces, and community groups to compete against others by joining cleanup efforts or hosting their own. This fosters community pride and increases participation. Learn more at solveoregon.org/challenge.
SOLVE has introduced coastal supply hubs to make organizing cleanups along the Oregon coast more sustainable. Thanks to a collaboration with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD) and support from Knife River, there are now seven hubs stocked with event materials for groups of up to 20 volunteers. These hubs - located at Cape Lookout, Fort Stevens, Port Orford Heads, South Beach, Sunset Bay (OPRD parks), Heart of Cartm in Nehalem, and Washed Ashore in Bandon - help reduce the use of single-use plastics in these areas.

You can help out in your own home town, but coastal sites that host meeting places include: Warrenton, Astoria, Seaside, Cannon beach, Manzanita, Tillamook, Pacific City, Ona Beach, Waldport, Yachats, Dunes City, Bandon, Coos Bay, Gold Beach and Brookings. Depoe Bay will have more than one such spot and Lincoln City has five.
New this year, SOLVE is also launching the Trash Bag Challenge, inviting schools, businesses, community groups, and organizations to challenge others to either join an existing cleanup or lead their own. This initiative is designed to spark friendly competition and community pride while making a tangible difference in local areas.
