(Florence, Oregon) – One Oregon coast town is revving up for a major car show. Florence will host the 12th Annual Invitational Rods ’N Rhodies Invitational Car Show and 7th Annual Communitywide Garage Sale on September 13 - 15.

“It’s a high-octane weekend at a spectacular time of year here in Florence,” says Florence Area Chamber of Commerce executive director Bettina Hannigan. “Up to 125 of the west coast’s best high-end hot rods and custom cruisers from 1976 and earlier will be on hand. Some are valued in the range of $250,000 and will exhibit at various show-and-shine locations including a closed-off Bay Street along the river in Historic Old Town Florence.”

The main event takes place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to noon on Bay Street in Old Town.

The event also includes a Pinewood Derby at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the corner of Nopal and Bay Streets, the traditional Saturday Old Town Cruise at 4:15 p.m., a poker walk and raffles with lots of prizes, best-in-show merchant awards, a People’s Choice award for favorite car, and themed music both days by DJ Russ Strohmeyer in Historic Old Town Florence.

This Oregon coast annual favorite kicks off Friday with the popular all-comers “Kool Car Stand-Around” show-and-shine from noon to 6 p.m. at the Port of Siuslaw parking lot at the east end of Bay St. Owners of any classic car or rat rod are welcome to exhibit along with the invited vehicles.

Bargain hunters can pick up a guide to the Communitywide Garage Sale at the Chamber’s Visitor Center, 290 Highway 101, and cruise the bargain trail all weekend to see dozens of commercial and private sales all over town.

“Think of it as your own personal episode of American Pickers,” adds Hannigan.
