New Additions to Oregon Coast Arts Festival
(Cannon Beach, Oregon) – Cannon Beach's Stormy Arts Weather Festival is one of the big attractions on the Oregon coast for the near-winter season, and this weekend's celebration has some extra features at two of the town’s more prominent lodgings. On Saturday, November 7, spend the day meandering through the mystic little coastal town, and then relax with a glass of wine, and perhaps an overnight stay, at the Inn at Cannon Beach. The Inn at Cannon Beach is featuring the Penner-Ash Wine Tasting and Live Music event, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the building’s art gallery. Wine ambassador Ryan McKenna will host a tasting of wines from renowned Willamette Valley producer Penner-Ash Wine Cellars (http://pennerash.com/)
On hand will be a 2006 Oregon Syrah, 2007 Rubeo, 2007 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2007 White Riesling and a 2007 Viognier. Along with the wines and food be live music by Wes Wahrmund, who will be performing acoustic world jazz. Tickets are $10 and include a keepsake wine glass and opener. Nearby, at the Ocean Lodge, there will be a weekend of of art, music, cuisine, photography and more during the duration of Cannon Beach ’s Stormy Weather Arts Festival, November 6 - 8. As part of the festival a special artists’ reception will be held at The Ocean Lodge on Saturday, November 7, from 4 – 6 p.m., featuring nature photographer Phil Knouf and impressionist oil paintings by Leah Anderson, who will each showcase their work at this free event that is open to the public.
There will be refreshments along with live acoustic guitar by well-known musician Kit Garoutte. Currently, Kit Garoutte performs most frequently as a solo artist. His original fingerstyle guitar compositions utilize elements of many genres, the most apparent being jazz and new acoustic with classical, Celtic, funk, rhythm and blues, soul, folk, and blues coloring the mix. In addition, Kit's instrumental repertoire includes an eclectic mix of his own arrangements of 'cover' material; ranging from jazz standards by the likes of Miles Davis and Duke Ellington, to smooth jazz tunes from Earl Klugh and Dave Grusin, and stretching across the board all the way to classic rock from The Allman Brothers.
The weekend at The Ocean Lodge will host a variety of festivities, including a concert by renowned blues singer Linda Hornbuckle on Saturday night at the Coaster Theater.
