Of the nearly 80 wineries on hand, numerous names are new to the festival. A small sample of wineries includes: Agate Ridge Vineyard, 12 Ranch Wines, Coelho Winery, Hauer of the Dauen, Amity Vineyards, Silver Falls Vineyards, Chateau St. Michelle, Namaste Vineyards as well as coastal vintners Nehalem Bay Winery and Flying Dutchman.
34 food vendors will be present, many from Newport. These include Bay 839, Embarcadero, Sada's Sushi Bar, Pacific Breeze Seafood, Crepe Neptune and Keli's Hawaiian Food, among dozens of others.
The arts and crafts booths boast various kinds of artwork such as wood sculpture, paintings, beads, pencil art and painted glass, as well as accessory items like handbags or gourmet mustards.
SeaPort Airlines is this year’s presenting sponsor, and Newport Chamber Executive Director Lorna Davis says that holding a festival of this size brings on unique challenges that are best faced with sponsors and partners who are willing to get behind the event. Among its contributions, SeaPort is also promoting the festival during its flights to Newport and around the state.
“Their leading role for this year’s event has been rewarding for us in the sense that they are able to promote from within, and offer us additional marketing opportunities through their channels that we otherwise may not have access to,” Davis said. “It takes many sponsors to put on the event, and we are fortunate to have SeaPort and others step forward during some economically challenging times.”
You must be 21 years or older to attend the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival. You must also show valid picture ID or you will not be able to enter the event. The site is handicapped accessible and smoke free, with a special outdoor smoking area. Parking at the facility is $5. Shuttle buses will run for free from Newport, and a shuttle schedule and map will be available on the chamber's website as well as the chamber center: 800-262-7844 or visit www.newportchamber.org.
