(Oregon Coast) – Over the river, through the woods and to the beach: that’s what plenty of people are doing. And they’re doing it in increasing numbers. The Oregon coast is a serious travel hotspot for holiday revelers.
Most lodgings are reporting already being mostly filled up. Many of these holidays get reserved quite early. The earliest is July 4th, which gets almost completely booked the day after the holiday, when guests checking out often reserve the next year on the spot.
But for Thanksgiving, the coast is a big tradition with many families. Places like the Pelican Shores and Looking Glass Inn in Lincoln City are just about filled up, and expect to max out.

There are a lot of regulars who booked it three months ahead of time at the San Dune Inn in Manzanita. “We’re pretty much booked up, with a couple left,” said owner Brian Hines. “We always get real busy. It seems to be stretching longer. People are staying Wednesday through Sunday night now. We’ve got one who’s starting on Monday and staying the whole week.”

Hines said the reservations for that holiday start coming in about three months ahead of time. “We’ve got some of our base people – our regulars doing that,” he said. “And we’re still getting some last-minute reservations.”
Various places on the coast are doing something special for that weekend and the holiday itself, including some restaurants that will be open for Thanksgiving.

Dining Out on the Coast for Thanksgiving
One of those is Arch Cape House – just south of Cannon Beach – which is not only a stunning and elegant B&B that is built to look like a castle, but they’re featuring the gourmet cuisine of owner Barbara Dau for a special Thanksgiving dinner. It’s for in-house guests only, and Dau says she’s not quite fully booked yet.

“It’s traditional turkey with the trimmings and some gourmet twists,” Dau said. “At least four courses with cocktails before.” It is $85 per person, and wines and gratuity are included. Look for East Ocean Rd., just north of the Arch Cape Tunnel. www.archcapehouse.com. 800-436-2848.
Not too far away, in Rockaway Beach, enjoy a holiday dinner with an awesome view of the untamed surf at Blue Water Grill. Lodging Openings
If you wait too long you won’t find a place to stay, and then you’ll have to head back inland to deal with your family. For those looking to leave the world behind, some are reporting openings still.
Manzanita

Lincoln City Vacation Homes Something for everyone: smaller homes with a view to a large house that sleeps 15. All are either oceanfront or just a few steps away – all with a low bank access and fantastic views. Most are in the Nelscott area; one is close to the casino. You’ll find a variety of goodies: fireplaces, multiple bedrooms, dishwashers, Jacuzzis, washer/dryers, hot tubs, cable TV, VCR, barbecues; there’s a loft in one, and another sprawling home has two apartments.
