Oregon Coast Aquarium Gets Spooky This Weekend
(Newport,
Oregon) - It's time once again for the Oregon Coast Aquarium's annual
soiree of the sinister, Creatures of the Night. The Aquarium will close
at 4 pm and reopen with jack-o-lanterns lighting the way through the 16th
annual Creatures of the Night, the Aquarium’s annual Halloween Party,
Saturday, October 25, from 7 to 9 p.m.
Creatures of the Night offers a safe environment for a
fun family celebration featuring activities for all age groups including
games, fun, treats, frights, delights and costume contests. Each area
will be marked with signs designating "happy faces" for younger
children and “scary faces” for the more fearless. Young children
will find interactive games and activities in the main indoor galleries.
For older children there are spooky haunts lurking in the outdoor caves
and creatures hiding in the shadows of the nature trail.
This year’s theme, "Very Scary Karaoke"
will feature performances of nightmarish karaoke in the front courtyard
as Burning Truth, a fire dancing troupe, performs dazzling choreography
with flames. Sea Myths will be enacted within the indoor galleries and
the haunted caves outdoors will feature ghouls and goblins. The nature
trail will have a fairytale theme with the dark side of fairytale characters
and their friends. Ghost Pirates will perform at the entrance to Passages
of the Deep and the exit lobby will feature "Ghosts of the Coast"
stories by Andre' Hagestedt in the Gleason Room. Costume contest winners
will be chosen by a panel of judges and awarded prizes.
Activities:
7 - 9 p.m. Andre’ Hagestedt, editor of BeachConnection.net
