Central Oregon Coast Festival a Gathering
of Dogs and Beer

Washin' the dawg: There will be suds with your dog offered outside
the event |
(Newport, Oregon) – For the second time in a year,
the central Oregon coast town of Newport will go to the dogs.
The Second Annual Brewer’s Memorial Ale Fest has
been scheduled for May 16 - 17 at the Rogue Ales World Headquarters in
Newport, Oregon. The event is held in honor of Brewer, the revered Chairman
of Rogue who passed away in 2006. He was the black lab seen barking and
carousing on television commercials for the Oregon Lottery in recent years,
in snippets featuring the Rogue Brewery.
This two-day event is the largest dog-friendly beer festival
in the world. Last year, 371 dogs and 2500 of their best friends gathered
inside the brewery, where Brewer spent most of his time as faithful companion
to Brewmaster John Maier. Proceeds from the festival will benefit Oregon
Coast Therapy Animals, Central Coast Humane Society, and other local animal
charities.
John
Maier will unveil his 2008 batch of Brewer’s Ale, which Maier calls
“a tribute to my best friend of 12 and half years.” Brewer
is a strong ale, rich, complex, and hoppy which will continue to develop
over the next few years.
Limited quantities of this one-time celebration brew will
be available in Rogue’s 750ml ceramic swing-top bottles.
Over 50 world class microbrews from across the country
will be poured at the event, including Allagash, Amnesia, Bear Republic,
Calapooia, Caldera, Diamond Knot, Dogfish Head, Eugene City Brewery, Fish,
Georgetown, Issaquah Brewhouse, Lagunitas, Laurelwood, McMenamin’s,
Lighthouse, Ninkasi, Pelican, Rogue Ales, Sierra Nevada, Siletz, Skagit
River, Standing, Stone, Steelhead, Max’s Fanno Creek, Wakonda and
more.

The Rogue Brewery, situated on the scenic Yaquina Bay,
will house a variety of dog-inspired activities, such as doggie musical
chairs, as well as crafts from coastal artisans, local seafood and live
music from the Ty Curtis Band, Whisky Robbers, and HooDoo Johnson, to
name a few. Just outside, volunteers will host a dog washing station within
a fenced dog run area under Newport’s historic Yaquina Bay Bridge.

animal non-profits in addition to proceeds from admission and raffle ticket
sales for a custom Memorial Brewdawg surfboard by legendary shaper Steve
Swan.

a souvenir mug and five free taster tokens. Dogs get in free when accompanied
by a human. Rogue Ales Brewery is located at 2320 OSU Drive, Newport,
