Ghoulish Family Fun at North Oregon Coast

(Seaside, Oregon) – A ghoulish time is guaranteed
for all and all ages in the north Oregon coast town of Seaside this Halloween
season as the Seaside Downtown Development Association presents its “Halloween
Happenin’s” festival, October 28 to 31.
The four-day freak fest includes festive train rides, haunted
rides at the Carousel Mall, a costume parade for people and their dressed
up pets, an appearance by the Great Pumpkin, trick-or-treat events that
benefit charity, book signings and hefty helping of ghost tales.
“Halloween
Happenin’s” is an annual event is for all ages, sure to provide
memorable experiences for all participants. This is a weekend of fun for
the entire family on a variety of levels.
Things
begin with train rides (weather permitting) downtown and an all-day haunted
carousel ride at the Carousel Mall, starting on Sunday, October 28.
Sunday, 1 p.m. brings the Howl-o-ween Pet Costume Parade,
where people and their pets get gussied up and join the crazed fun throughout
town, with the opportunity to win prizes. It starts at Quatat park. You
can pick up your entry forms at Seaside Mostly Hats (inside the Carousel
Mall) The Bridge Tender, and the Seaside Downtown Development Association
(SDDA).

On Monday at 1 p.m., it’s the deadline for the Great
Pumpkin Carving Challenge. Turn in your pumpkin masterpiece to the SDDA
office, and it will then be displayed in the window of the Pig ‘N
Pancake restaurant.
At 7 p.m., experience your bones at their most chilled
as ghost stories of the Oregon coast spill out all over Beach Books in
downtown. BeachConnection.net editor Andre’ Hagestedt will recount
countless tales of spooks, spirits, paranormal legends, odd history and
the strange science of the coast, coming from every town between Florence
and Astoria.
Bring canned food for donations to local food banks for
the trick-or-treat fun around town later on.

On Tuesday, downtown merchants judge the decorating of
the storefronts throughout the area as well as the pumpkin carving endeavors
– all starting 5 p.m.
On
Wednesday (Halloween), there’s more trick-or-treating from 1 p.m.
to 4 p.m., inside participating businesses. Fill the cornucopia with donated
food, and get your photos taken with the Great Pumpkin, courtesy of the
Daily Astorian. Photos will later be posted at Seaside-Sun.com.
From 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., Beach Books will feature the signing
and reading of Jimmy Pickering’s book “Skelly the skeleton
Girl.”
