Dog Fest and Cooking This Weekend on Central
Oregon Coast
 |
It's going to be one seriously endless festival of doggie
cuteness at the coast this weekend |
(Lincoln City, Oregon) - It's food for thought and for
the palate this weekend in Lincoln City, as the big, stretched out central
Oregon coast town hosts another innovative cooking class and a large benefit
for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter. Both the cooking class and the
Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics happen on Saturday, but only one let’s
you show off your adorable pet.
The day is coming for you and your mutt to go bounding
down to Lincoln City for the Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics. That
day will be Saturday, May 17, at 1545 SE 50th Street in Lincoln City.
The event is a benefit for the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, located
in Newport, Oregon.

City Visitors Center) |
A new addition to the event this year is a guest appearance
by Amber, a two-year-old Golden Retriever who is trained to assist Crisis
Responders with Animal Assisted Crisis Response. Her “mom,”
Kate Becker, travels with her to greet people in need all over the United
States and will accompany Amber to the show to tell audiences a bit more
about this astounding dog, and dogs like her.
It is presumed Kate will give the talk - not Amber.
Most recently Amber and Kate traveled to Illinois to help
the campus of Northern Illinois University recover from their February
2008 tragedy. This appearance and others like it have had an astounding
impact on the people who have been assisted by Amber. The impact has been
so astounding that the Today Show recently taped a segment on the pair,
and the work of Animal Assisted Crisis Response.
This
is a great opportunity to get to the coast, get involved and learn a little
something from a local “gal” who is positively impacting people
across the country! General admission is $2 per person, kids 12 and under
free!
Mutt Masters Dog Show and Olympics will be held from Noon
until about 4 p.m. on Saturday the 17th of May. Registration will begin
at 11 a.m. The registration fee is $2 per category per dog. All proceeds
from the event will go to the Lincoln County Animal Shelter.

will teach an “Ode to Spring” class on Saturday May 17, from
11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Chef James’ menu which includes; andalucian gazpacho
with fresh Oregon pink shrimp, chilled asparagus, pheasant parfait with
morel mushrooms and foie gras, and Ling Cod, was inspired by the fantastic
foods that are just now beginning to “spring up” across the
Northwest.
Chef Jeff James is a native of the Willamette Valley. Prior
to opening j.james restaurant in Salem, Chef James was the Executive Chef
at Sun Mountain Lodge in Washington.
During his tenure as Executive Chef, the Lodge received

 |
After all that delicious food you may want to run it
off along one of Lincoln City's many pristine beaches, like this one
in the Nelscott district |
This class is a full-day and hands-on culinary experience,
and cost is $90 per person. Dinner will be served as the last hour of
class time, and is included in the class price. A list of classes offered
at the Pacific Coast Center for Culinary Arts can be found at www.oregoncoast.org.
To register for a class, contact Katera Woodbridge at 541-996-2119 or
