Officials Search for Missing Man on North Oregon Coast Published 08/17/2010 (Cannon Beach, Oregon) - The Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office is searching for Gary Hulstrom, 49, from Portland, Oregon. On Friday, Aug. 6th a family member dropped Hulstrom off at Ecola State Park because he wanted to hike and camp on Tillamook Head for one week. On Friday, Aug. 13th Hulstrom was to ride a bus back home to Portland. The family became concerned for Hulstrom’s welfare when he did not return home and began searching for him at Ecola State Park and within the Cannon Beach and Seaside communities. On Sunday, Aug. 15th Hulstrom’s brother contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report him missing. On Monday, Aug. 16th Clatsop County Search and Rescue personnel responded to Ecola State Park to search for Hulstrom. Searchers hiked the entire trail system within Ecola State Park and the five-and-a-half-mile trail from Indian Beach to Seaside that goes over Tillamook Head looking for Hulstrom. The searchers talked with many people and hikers on the trails and none of them have seen Hulstrom. A United States Coast Guard Helo from Air Station Astoria searched the cliffs and shoreline around Tillamook Head. The park rangers and staff at Ecola State Park and the Cannon Beach and Seaside Police Departments have assisted with searching for Hulstrom and are aware that he is still missing. The search for Hulstrom continues.
Hulstrom may be hiking and camping along the coast and the Clatsop County Sheriff’s Office and Hulstrom’s family is asking for the communities help in locating him. Hulstrom’s photo is included in this article.
