(Yachats, Oregon) – It’s a weekend of fun and fungi, with one central Oregon coast town going all mushy for the mushroom as it features restaurants, the Cape Perpetua Visitors Center, Oregon naturalists and renown mycologists, and local sponsoring businesses - all getting intot the act. It’s the 8th Annual Yachats Village Mushroom Fest and it’s set for October 19 – 21, happening in the tiny town just south of Waldport and about 25 miles north of Florence.

The weekend promises enticing mushroom dishes in village restaurants, free guided mushroom walks, talks and exhibits, an extensive photo slideshow and a mushroom growing workshop, as well as markets for wild and cultivated culinary mushrooms, mushroom books, photos and art, live music, barbecue, wine tasting, and more.

The weekend opens at 6 p.m. on Friday, October 19, with the Village Fungi Feast. This benefit dinner offers delectable mushroom dishes prepared by local restaurant chefs, live music by exceptional youth musicians, a photo show of wild forest mushrooms, a tantalizing desserts auction and a silent auction. The Village Fungi Feast is hosted by the Yachats area Chamber of Commerce and is sponsored by Yachats restaurants and many other local businesses. This year’s proceeds will benefit the Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program.

A free shuttle bus between the village and the mushroom
trails at Cape Perpetua will be available all weekend. For a complete

The Yachats Village Mushroom Fest is hosted by the Yachats Area Chamber
of Commerce and is generously supported by Yachats area businesses, the
Cape Perpetua Visitors Center and Scenic Area, Forest Ecologist Marla
Gillham, OSU Faculty, Students and Alumni, the Cascade Mycological Society,
the North American Truffling Society, Mycological Natural Products, the
Yachats Youth and Family Activities Program, and many Yachats area naturalists
and culinary mushroom enthusiasts.
