Festival of Sweets on N. Oregon Coast Next Weekend

Oregon) - The Seaside Chamber of Commerce is hosting a tasty theme weekend
in Seaside on February 1, 2 and 3: “Chocolate ‘N Chowder,
The Coastal Comforts of Seaside.”
It happens all around town, with numerous businesses in Seaside getting sweet on the visitor, providing a dazzling array of delicious delights, which sometimes includes seafood.

Think culinary fireworks: chocolate sundaes, chocolate chip bagels, razor clams and crab cakes. Restaurants will be offering chowder, seafood or chocolate and dessert specials. Candy stores will feature a variety of delectables, from truffles and fudge to taffy. Nighttime entertainment spots will offer chocolate martinis, other specialty drinks, chowder and brew specials. Retailers will have specials and sales. Hours vary with individual businesses.

On Saturday, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., there will be free tastings of various chowders and chocolate concoctions at many businesses. This is also the First Saturday Art Walk, with hours extended from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“The idea is to have every business in town featuring one or several Chocolate ‘N Chowder posters with the message that Seaside is a warm, wonderful place for a winter weekend,” said Dan Johnson, Chamber President. “We’re hoping visitors and Seasiders will come out and enjoy the town and the winter comfort specials.”

Smiles, Chamber Executive Director noted, “Seaside is great in winter.
If it’s sunny you can stroll Broadway and the Prom, enjoy the ocean
air and area attractions and activities. If we get a blustery day you
can storm watch and enjoy sitting by the fire and really savor our coastal
comforts.”
Of
special interest to women is the Seaside Sisters weekend at the Civic
& Convention Center, Friday through Sunday. The event includes scrap
booking “crops,” classes, exhibits, a shop hop, fashion show
and a benefit Bunco tournament. Some portions of the event are free, or
