New Route In Israel Enables Travelers to Walk in the Footsteps of Jesus. Israel has inaugurated the new 'Pilgrim's Route,' a trail enabling travelers to hike to its Christian holy places. Along the route leading from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, tourists can visit the site that recalls the New Testament parable of the Good Samaritan, the Qumran caves and the point in the Jordan River believed to be where Jesus was baptized by John the Baptist. The Good Samaritan site, located just off the highway leading from Jerusalem to the Dead Sea, is home to a Byzantine church built approximately 1,700 years ago. www.goisrael.com. Sightsee-as-you-jog Through Tel Aviv. In a first of its kind, tourism in Israel has taken a new step - or jog, rather - with the launch of Run the City's "Site Jogging," a new program designed for travelers wishing to discover Tel Aviv via their feet. A personal guide will accompany participants on the tour, sharing stories and connecting them to the rich history of Old Jaffa, the bohemian-chic Neve Tzedek neighborhood and the modern Tel Aviv Marina. Tours will be run for individuals or groups, and range from 60-90 minutes depending on the participants' requested difficulty level and route. Plans have been announced to expand the Site Jogging program to Jerusalem and other cities throughout Israel in 2009. www.run-the-city.com.

The 26th Annual Turin Film Festival will be held from November 21 - 29, 2008. Known to be Italy’s most important international film festival after Venice, the Turin Film Festival began in 1982 as a festival of young movie producers. The Turin Film Festival continues to focus on the works of new, up-and-coming filmmakers, bringing together a great selection of works from the contemporary international film world. With entries submitted by filmmakers from within Italy and around the world, visitors to the weeklong festival can expect to see a wide and varied program of screenings that includes animations, features, shorts and documentaries. The Turin Film Festival aims to provide viewers with a truthful account of the real world we live in. The festival is divided into ten sub-categories each displaying their own views of the world. The diverse categories range from “Torino 26,” the festival’s main section, dedicated to discovering new cinema and artists, to “The Zone,” focusing on advanced and experimental cinema that will not be distributed in theatres or on television. Not all categories are competitive, however, and the 2008 festival will allow twelve films to enter the festival that lack Italian distribution. At the conclusion of the 2008 Turin Film Festival, a 25,000 EUR prize (about US $35,700) will be awarded to one film. In addition to best film, awards will also go to best actor and actress, best documentary, and best short film, among others. Additional information on the Turin Film Festival is available at http://www.torinofilmfest.org
