(Oregon Coast) – Here is an updated list of useful and important information for those still on the Oregon coast or those considering a trip there.
Now that the majority of the Oregon coast is up and running, it is a perfect time to visit and see some historical changes and damage.
- All Major Routes to the Coast are Open. Highway
26 has reopened as of six p.m. Wednesday night. Conditions there are
clear with no problems at all. There is some power and other work going
on, which occasionally delays traffic just slightly
Other coastal routes are fine: Highway 6 to Tillamook, and Highways 18 and 20 to the coast. Highway 38, between Elkton and Reedsport, is shut down indefinitely.

| Seaside |
- Astoria now is almost fully restored with power. Manzanita
and Wheeler have power as well. Seaside is now almost completely back
with electricity. Cannon Beach and Arch Cape have been partially restored
via two large generators. It is unclear how long it will be before they
are back with full power. Officials urge residents to unplug all appliances,
computers and other electrical devices, because when the power gets
turned back on, it could create an immediate overload and zap power
back off again. Pacific City has power again as well.
- Garibaldi and Bay City are still in the dark,
however
- Phone service on the north coast has been fully restored on the north coast. However, in those areas with no power, many people can’t answer because they have only electric phone devices

- Governor Kulongowski has declared a state of emergency
in several parts of the state, including flood-ravaged Vernonia, and
the coastal counties of Lincoln and Tillamook County. This means federal
money may come to those areas.
