Wine Flows Freely at North Oregon Coast Festival
(Seaside,
Oregon) - It’s a day of wine and song in the North Oregon coastal
resort town of Seaside, as the Seaside Downtown Development (SDDA) presents
its 2008 Spring Wine Walk on Saturday, May 17. The event – which
draws hundreds to Seaside - happens all over town and runs from 3 p.m.
to 7 p.m. Tastings will be held inside participating businesses throughout
downtown Seaside. Look for the red SDDA banners outside participating
businesses.
The event is steadily growing, said SDDA Executive Director Laurie Oxley, as more wineries become interested in participating each time.
“There are a few new wineries along with some great repeat vintners,” Oxley said. “If you haven’t attended past wine walks, this is a great time to taste and purchase favorite wines that might be hard to find elsewhere.”

This
event will feature select Oregon wineries, complimentary hors d’oeuvres
and live entertainment. A commemorative logo wine glass is $5, and an
ID bracelet will be required for wine tasting. You must be at least 21
years of age to participate.
Visitors can obtain their wine glass at the ID check and
purchase points: Carousel Mall, 300 Broadway, 1 – 7 p.m.; Salmonberry
Square, 810 Broadway, 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.; Ernst & Ernst Collectors Gallery,
15 Broadway, 2:30 - 6:30 p.m.
Some wineries may charge a minimal tasting fee. Wine is poured between
3 p.m. and 7 p.m. only.
There will be live music at least one venue.
Wineries
have been paired with various businesses. Anam Cara will be at Kay Lynn's.
Pizza Harbor is hosting Depoe Bay Winery. Comfort Inn Hotel has Flying
Dutchman Winery out of Depoe Bay. Yamhill County’s Hauer of the
Dauen will be at Pudgy's Restaurant & Lounge. Portland’s Hip
Chicks Do Wine will be doing Phillips Candies. Portland Fudge will spotlight
King's Raven Winery. Mia Sonatina will be at The Natural Nook. Naked Wines
will be tasted at Salmonberry Square. Nehalem Bay Winery will hold court
at The Jewelry Box. Hillsboro’s Oak Knoll Winery will be at Sunrose
Gallery. Earnst & Earnst Collectors Gallery will host Pudding River
Winery. Silver Falls Winery will set up shop at Art Works. Walnut City
Wine Works will drive people nutty at Beach Books. And Washington’s
Wine by Joe will be at The Man Store.
Lola's Fancy Food Market, Norma's Ocean Diner and Mckeown's Restaurant will be hosting their own wine companies.
