Funky Oregon Winery Plans
Big Year
(Nehalem, Oregon)
– The kooky, funky and fun Nehalem Bay Winery – on the
Oregon coast – is planning another year of captivating festivals.
Between reggae, bluegrass, Fourth of July and an always-inventive
anniversary party, this winery knows how to party.

Bay Winery |
The winery sits
along Highway 53, just a ways inland from the north
coast town of Manzanita, in the middle of pastoral farmland
surrounded by a close-knit ring of small mountains covered in dense
trees. The atmosphere is at once part Americana and rural France.
Winery spokesperson
Melissa Stetzel just released the 2006 schedule of events.
The winery’s
Anniversary Party happens on April 1, celebrating 32 years of providing
vino in an atmosphere that’s more than a little different.
Like all its events, this one is family friendly, featuring the
winery’s signature inventive drinks and food.
May 27 kicks
off the summer season with the Memorial Day Blues Festival: Blues,
Brews and BBQ. Over 15 beers, tasty barbecued cuisine and live music
by Norman Sylvester and Bond St. Blues, among others.
June 17th means
the annual Juneteenth Reggae Festival, featuring its famous pig
roast, Red Stripe beer and rastas. Bands to be announced.
July 4th brings live music and a free all-American barbecue following
the parade in Manzanita.

On August 16th,
the winery’s famous Bluegrass and BBQ happens, bringing in
high-profile bands as well as a local nugget or two. Regular past
headliners have included Dave Grisman and Laurie Lewis.

for most of these events. Stay tuned to www.nehalembaywinery.com
for more details as they become available. All events take place
rain or shine. Families are welcome, minors must be accompanied
by a parent. 34965 Highway 53, Nehalem. 503-368-9463.
