Central
Oregon Coast Town Brings in Masses for Antique Week
|
Lincoln City |
(Lincoln City, Oregon)
– The central Oregon coast town of Lincoln City gets flooded in
early February with its massive Antique Week 2007, which will again host
HGTV's former "Collector Inspector,” Harry Rinker. The gargantuan
festival happens February 9 - 19, in various places around Lincoln City,
and includes special appearances by Rinker, workshops, in-home appraisals,
and appraise-a-thons.
The Antique Week festival
kicks off with Lincoln City’s “Paint the Town Red” on
February 10th, featuring a number of events that center around and celebrate
the color red. These include "Shades of the Redhead Round-up"
(a take on the old festival from Depoe Bay from the early part of the
century which celebrated women with red hair). There’s a small-scale
return of Lincoln City's leading festival of the1930's, "A Night
on the Red Carpet," which will feature the ultimate film about the
1950's, "Grease." There’s breakfast with grandma, and
Little Red Riding Hood or story time with Clifford the Big Red Dog. There
will also be a Scholastic Book Fair and the Red Bull Paper Wings contest.

There are more activities
during the week. Antique shops and dealers will have sales for the entire
ten-day period, offering great treasures at more than 100 dealers. Along
with antique sales there will be museum exhibits, historic tours of Lincoln
City, a flea market, tribal craft fair and cultural display, historic
building displays of Lincoln City businesses, and much more to entertain
the antique lover, average tourist or history aficionado throughout the
10-day festival.

City Vacation Homes
There’s something for everyone
among this selection of wondrous homes: smaller homes with a view
to a large house that sleeps 15. All the homes are either oceanfront
or just a few steps away from the sand – all with a low
bank access and fantastic views. Most are in the Nelscott area;
one is close to the casino. You’ll find a variety of goodies,
depending on the home: fireplaces, multiple bedrooms, dishwashers,
Jacuzzis, washer/dryers, hot tubs, cable TV, VCR, barbecues; there’s
a loft in one, and another sprawling home has two apartments.
Pets are allowed in some homes – ask ahead. Each comes with
complete kitchens so you’ll have a home away from home.
Most have the seventh night free. Prices range from winter $85
to summer $230 per night. www.getaway2thecoast.com.
