Halloween Full of Howls in Oregon Coast Resort Town

(Seaside, Oregon) – The annual all-age Halloween Happenin’s caps the month in the coastal resort town of Seaside with some frighteningly amusing and fun activities, running October 28 - 31.

The event – which is presented by the Seaside Downtown Development Association, Chamber of Commerce and the Seaside Police Department – ranges from trick-or-treating, train rides, pumpkin carving, a magic show, a haunted carousel ride to talks on paranormal coastal legends and even a costumed pet parade.

The festival of spooky fun begins on October 28 with festive train rides (weather permitting). These start at 1 p.m., as does the kooky new Howl-o-ween Pet Costume Parade.

The parade begins at the Pocket Park - on Oceanway between the Beach Club and the Carousel Mall - in downtown Seaside, and will finish at Quatat Park. There will be prizes and fun for all ages.

All “howling” participants will receive a commemorative ribbon and a Grand Marshall will be crowned and awarded.

Deadline for The Great Pumpkin Carving Challenge. Turn in your pumpkin art at the SDDA office located inside the Carousel Mall (300 Broadway).

5 p.m.
Judging of The Great Pumpkin Carving Challenge. All pumpkin art will be displayed in the Pig ‘n Pancake’s front windows.

3 p.m.
Magic Show! Magic show performed by The Corner Magic Shop. Admission: $5

Monday, October 30

Window lighting contest, Seaside downtown core area. Judging at 5 p.m.

5 p.m.

Tuesday, October 31

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Trick-or-Treat so Others May Eat. Inside participating downtown businesses. Bring two cans of food for the South County food bank to the SDDA office to receive a complimentary reflective trick-or-treat bag, courtesy of the Seaside Police Department. Children can get their picture taken with the Great Pumpkin.

While there, enter to win the grand prize (a child’s bicycle) as well as two other drawings. Must be age 11 or under. Need not be present to win.
