Valentine's Dinners on Oregon Coast and Wine Country
|
Youngberg Inn, Oregon coast range/wine country |
(Oregon Coast) –
For those looking for a bit of the exquisite for a romantic Valentine’s
dinner – without it actually being on Valentine’s Day - two
particular suppers promise the best in Oregon cuisine and scenery in two
very hot tourist attraction areas. Both happen near Valentine’s
Day (leaving your schedule still open to celebrate Valentine’s Day)
and both feature cutting edge artisan food, with one happening on the
central Oregon coast and the other in the middle of Oregon’s famous
wine country.
Inn
At Spanish Head, Lincoln City. It's Lincoln City’s only
resort hotel built right on the beach with all oceanfront rooms
- nestled against a rugged cliffside overlooking a soft, sandy beach.
Enjoy dining in the penthouse restaurant and bar - whether you’re
in the mood for a casual meal or a candlelight dinner. They offer
an array of seafood specialties, juicy steaks and other Northwest
favorites, including a decadent Sunday buffet. Rooms range from
bedrooms to studios to one-bedroom suites with microwaves and refrigerators
to full kitchens. Hotel amenities include wi-fi, spa, saunas, exercise
room and a year-round heated swimming pool. Kids will love the game
room and easy beach access. Full-service conference and meeting

possibilities. Near the south end of Lincoln City at 4009 SW Highway

On February 10, Youngberg
Hill Vineyards & Inn near McMinnville is planning an intimate setting
for the lovebird set, with window or fireplace sitting where a view of
the valley will inspire you. Dinner will be presented by one of the area’s
premier chefs, Virginia Murphy of the Fresh Palate Cafe, with a five-course
prix fix menu of beef, scallops, or duck and a glass of champagne. Youngberg’s
artisan award winning wines will be available, along with music provided
during the evening.
Rooms are still available at
the Inn for the event and the days around it.
The dinner begins at 6:30 p.m.
and is $150 per couple, excluding wine and gratuity.
Another Valentine’s
dinner is tentatively planned on the 17th if the February 10 sitting should
sell out. Reservations required. 10660 SW Youngberg Hill Road. McMinnville,

Stonecrest Cellar B&B |
Just south of Newport,
Stone Crest Cellar B&B has
a stunning vaulted ceiling, a massive fireplace and superb décor
along with a jaw-dropping ocean view. It’s perhaps the wedding capital
of the central coast, having hosted more than one a week there all through
2005. But on February 9, it throws open its doors to the general public
with its third annual anniversary dinner, entitled “A Romantic Night
in Italy.”

As if this charmer
wasn’t romantic enough, the B&B opened its doors on Valentine’s
Day three years ago, so every year is an anniversary celebration as well
as Valentine’s dinner.
This installment of the informal dining experience features wines and
tales of Italy from Casa Bruno. It all begins at 7 p.m. and cost is $50
per person.
The
first course brings Saffron crawfish fritters with sweet pea lemon grass
broth on a bed of Saffron risotto. The second consists of honey citrus
pork brochettes with tri-colored Cole slaw. A champagne sorbet intermezzo
happens at the third course. The fourth course is a beet salad with Mediterranean
olives, cucumbers in a vodka vinaigrette. The fifth course consists of
a duck rollatini filled with prosciutto raisin and fresh sage in a port
reduction, accompanied with seasonal vegetables. Finally, a chef’s
tiramisu completes this memory-making moment.
Reservations are required. Stone Crest Cellar B&B is at 9556 South
Coast Hwy In South Beach. 541-867-6621. www.stonecrestbb.com
