(Seaside, Oregon) - It’s one serious Old Fashioned Fourth of July in Seaside, which may allow you to actually fly above the fireworks. The north Oregon coast tourist destination bulges at the seams with various celebrations, including fireworks to set to music, a parade and even the chance to win an airplane above the fireworks.

Seaside’s parade begins at 11 a.m. and winds along downtown. This includes the 110-piece Oregon Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps along with individuals, families, pets, floats and civic organizations providing a fun and funny patriotic pageant. Some marchers hand out salt-water taffy and other goodies to the spectators. The Seaside Historical Museum hosts the Old Fashioned Social with booths, baked goods and ice cream, providing plenty of time tripping atmosphere to this charming bit of ancient Americana.
The theme of this year’s shindig is “Celebrate Freedom.”
There’s
a Street Fair on Broadway that begins at Noon and continues until 8 p.m.
The Fair will feature two bands, a petting zoo, face painting, fortune
telling, the Bubble Man and “Celebrate Freedom” apparel sales
and more.
Seaside’s Bubble Man is an elderly individual with a funky sense of fun about him, creating gigantic displays of bubbles – in great numbers.

At 3 p.m., the Drum & Bugle Corps will march the Promenade and then along Broadway to Quatat Park, along the river, where they will present a free concert.
At dark, the fireworks display begins. The spectacular show is coordinated to music broadcast over speakers across the Promenade and on the local radio station, KSWB AM 840.

There will be a “Fireworks Free Zone” on the beach for families who prefer to keep children away from the areas where spectators are setting off their own displays.
A special raffle will be held by Aviation Adventures for a chance to view the fireworks from an airplane. Tickets are $20 each and only 250 tickets will be sold. The drawing will be held at the Chamber offices on the morning of July 3rd and the winner will be notified by phone and need not be present at the drawing. Tickets are available from the Chamber, the Seaside Downtown Development Association office in the Carousel Mall or Aviation Adventures at the Seaside Airport.
The flight will depart from the Seaside Airport and be approximately 45 minutes in the air.
