North Oregon Coast Eateries Celebrate Valentine's Day

(Bay City, Oregon) - At least two restaurants on the North Coast are doing something special for the upcoming romantic holiday.

Pacific Oyster in Bay City – just north of Tillamook and right on the bay - is providing some cuddle-inducing fun.

The view is one of the real killers here, along with the exceptional cuisine. It's hard to get fish fresher than this. Something around ten tons of oysters get processed here everyday, which you can watch from the dining room.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, Pacific Oyster is having a special dinner that veers slightly from its plethora of fishies. The Valentine’s Day dinner special consists of a six-ounce ribeye steak with four fantail shrimp and choice of potato or vegetables for $12.95.

Soups and salads include many seafood specialties, of course, including an unforgettable cioppino, chowders, crab Louie and cheese breads (from $3 to $14). Fish 'n' chips come in various incarnations (about $8). Find seafood sandwiches with shrimp, tuna or crab, as well as burgers, around $9. In Cannon Beach, Fultano’s Pizza is a bit different from your average pie slinger. Call it “gourmet at a family pizza joint price,” as their gourmet selections are not only innovative but also striking and memorable.

They’re offering couples a couple of specials on Valentine’s Day. You can get heart-shaped pizzas or go the route for twosomes. For romancers, buy two dinners (or pizza for two) and receive two complimentary glasses of wine.

One must-try is their pasta (about $10). They have a homemade tomato sauce that stacks up against anything Europe could dish out. This is one stunning, mother-of-all sauces, and their penne pasta with meatballs is a seriously addictive dish. 200 N. Hemlock and Second Street. (503) 436-9717.
