(Newport, Oregon) - It’s an annual event that offers family fun at summer’s last weekend bash.
The Oregon Coast Aquarium is hosting its annual Labor Day Weekend Car Show, Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The car show, held in the Aquarium parking lot, is free for those attending. For those participating in the show there is a $10 registration fee per car per day. The celebration includes vintage and non-vintage autos & trucks, sports cars, street rods, muscle cars, customs, imports, and classics.

Highlighting this year’s event includes a company called Race by Design showing one of their performance parts cars. The company designs race packages that transform a daily import into a racing machine. On Saturday screen printer Jeff McDaniel will photograph and screen print personalized custom T-shirts for car owners and enthusiasts.
“There
are a lot of car enthusiasts in and around Oregon,” according to
Aquarium Exhibits Technician, Dick Miller, who is also the show organizer.
“You always see something you like. Everyone has their own taste,
but you have to respect what each person has done - some of the paint
jobs are incredible.”
Miller says it’s truly an art form. “You’ll see everything from a stock Model A to a wild custom car.”
The event is actually two shows in one weekend, with separate shows Saturday and Sunday.
“There
will be a winner in every class both days - a total of 23 awards each
day,” said Miller, who is an avid car enthusiast himself. “This
makes it easy for car enthusiasts to work more than one car show into
their Labor Day weekend.”
Activities
include an outdoor barbeque, games and fun for the entire family throughout
the weekend. Raffles and best-in-show car competitions are all part of
this year’s event. There will be around 100 vintage cars per day
on display in the Aquarium’s main parking lot.
