Seals Born to Oregon Aquarium
(Seaside,
Oregon) – Two more baby harbor seals have been born to the
Oregon coast landmark Seaside Aquarium – and the first of
the three seals born there last week now has a name.
Cannon Beach’s
Haystack Program held a raffle during the pregnancy of ten-year-old
Greta to win a chance to name the baby seal. The baby seal was born
last week, and the drawing for the chance to name it was held last
Friday.
Terry
and Judith Jones from Bend, Oregon won the “Name the Seal
Contest,” choosing the name “Cecil.”
Meanwhile, two other
seals gave birth over the last few days: Cosmo and Scully. Those
seals are still without a name. Members of the family that owns
the Seaside Aquarium will name those newborn seals.
Seaside
Aquarium’s Tiffany Boothe said 180 last minute entries came
in on Friday, bringing the total to 672 entries – all of which
paid $1. All proceeds went to the Haystack Rock Awareness Program.
Pictured here
are photos of Greta's unnamed newborn, taken by Boothe.

family units with fireplaces, kitchens and dining rooms. There are
